Legend of Badges
Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |

Tap o' Noth Permaculture
Project Type
Rural, ResidentialProject Summary
Tap o' Noth Permaculture is an aspiring Permaculture farm and demonstration site, still in its infancy but growing at a rapid pace. Our aim is to create an edible and self-sustaining lanscape and inspire others to do the same.
Project Description
Tap o' Noth Permaculture is a 7.9 acre family run smal hill farm in its early stages of design, situated on the slopes of Tap o' Noth hill (564m and capped with the ancient remnants of an Iron Age hill fort) in rural Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The farm is a mix of south facing slopes, young mixed broadleaf woodland, pasture, ponds and bog and a growing number of food gardens and animal systems.
The site was purchased in Jan 2012 with the aim of setting up the land to become a fertile, productive farm. Once the systems are in place we intend to teach Permaculture Design Courses from the farm and also working with what surplus the farm yeilds.
To date (June 2012) we have desined and built two kitchen gardens, consisting of double reach beds on contour with small swale/pathways. Some beds were built using hugleculture principles. We have built a duck system which is located at the top of one garden so we can benifit from the duck manure through piped duck water or through the action of gravity/ run -off directly into a swale. We have chickens working in chook tractors in areas where we want to either expand the veg gardens or grow food forests.
We have an old blacksmith building which we plan to renovate and use as the Permaculture classroom and education center as well as a slowfood cafe.
