Project Summary

Old ruined forestersfarm, with old gardens and horsestables near the threeborderspoint of Germany-Holland-Belgium, with about 70 Hektar (about 170 Acres) of beautiful forests & fields.

Project Description

The Schneeberghof is an old farm near the German-Holland-Belgium-Threeborderspoint. It is located on the German side near the town of Aachen. The farmhouses are build on a slope that points southwards towards the threeborderspoint, so that on sunny days there is sun the whole day through. Some of the buildings lay in ruines others are in a state of decomposition, except for the farmhouse itself, that is more or less habitable, but under preservation order because of it's history.

That farm used to be the home of forestgards in the late 19th century. In worldwar 2 it became place for the Westwall that runs through it as well as lot's of Nazibunkers, that lay in ruines all over the land still to this day. About 70 Hektars (about 170 acres) of most beautiful forests, grasslands & fields belong to the Schneeberghof. Parts of the forest are under environmental protection. For the last 30 years the farm was used as a horsefarm, but since two years it's inhabited and left alone.

In cooperation with a nearby Wwoofingfarm, and with the agreement of the owner I decided to trigger the new permacultural Schneegerghof-Project by first of all installing a original Nomadics Tipi Makers Tipi from Oregon (www.tipi.com), my nomadhome, on 17th November 2011. Twenty camerounsheeps as well as 2 young donkeyladies from that nearby Wwoofingfarm are there currently under my care in improvised grasingland- and stableconditions. I've got some basic gardening-tools via the cooperation with the Wwoofingfarm.

My aim is to creat at least one big permaculture-garden as well as to find people, who will love and take care of those beautiful forests and who want to get involved.

There is a lot of land for permacultural oppertunities of the different kinds as well as varied environmental care and community issus that can be figured out for the future. The project still has no website, this is why I refer to my blog, where the initial phase of the project can be followed. You will find it in my fifth post...sorry it's all in german language...if there are any questions, please contact me via Mobilephone, Skype, best via my email adress in my profile.

I now ask the universe: may the Global Permaculture Network thrive and develop in a way that exceeds all of our wildest dreams!!! And so may the Schneeberghof-Project...Haleluja, Amen & may the great spirit be with us...! (-:

Oktober 2012:

Because of my nomadic lifestyle, I'm not at the farm anymore... I may get there again in some years, to look after the land...

Legend of Badges

Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI Teacher

With the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable.

PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows.
