My background is in psychology. I currently teach music in the winter and horticulture in the spring and summer.
I have always kept a garden, and permaculture came to me through a general interest in ecology, growing food, conservation etc.
We have a two acre plot on high ground here in Scotland. Much of the space is put over to a forest garden. Our first plantings are now 3 years old, though the area was already quite wooded, so the garden is in some respects quite mature. On our few small areas of flat ground we are using pigs to clear ground for growing vegetables. We also keep hens, ducks and bees. We have a small hydroelectricity project in development.
