About Cindee Karns
I grew up in Alaska, lived in the interior, south east and now south central Alaska, all in very different climes. I'm retired from teaching public school and now have turned my efforts to Permaculture.
We live in Alaska's only bioshelter. It was built into the mountain with south facing solar gain windows back in 1985. It recycles all of its water and waste, which means it has no well and no septic. We are attempting to turn the entire 2 acres into a learning experience for living a life more in harmony with the arctic---a very hard thing to do.
We are learning as fast as we can and teaching what we know. We are trying to build community and resilience. We are heavily involved in the Transition Town movement.
