About alex briggs
I was born and raised in a small rural town in maine, where i learned gardening and a bit of carpentry from my dad and later some semi-permaculture techniques from my friend and employer. He was also a buddhist monk and a deep ecologist, which nurtured my appreciation and dedication for the natural world- which is in a state of hidden crisis.
I'm now living in montreal and working on a mechanical engineering degree with the hopes of becoming some sort of "permaculture engineer" able to build heat pumps, gassifiers, and other useful tools for a homestead.
I believe just about all governments and large organizations to be corrupt (particularly on this continent) and am an anti-authoritarian who holds the hopes that as centralized forms of power (fossils) are exhausted the current mega-nations of the world will collapse, leaving behind a network of smaller countries and communities based on (more evenly distributed) renewable energies. Though this is my hope I don't know what the future holds, though I know it holds a lot of work for us, particularly in trying to prevent economies from transferring their greed to a new central fuel (nuclear, either fast-fission or fusion)
