About Helle Janssen

Life is Awesome!

I grew up in a permaculture-like woodland-garden home that often felt like an oasis within a world, ruined by greed and subservience. As a Youth I asked why? - the answer to: What can I do about it? is the quest of my life.

I sought communities, living in harmony with their environment in remote parts of Europe, North and South America, Madagascar, Australia and NZ, shared on multi species tree-cropping designs and wind energy generation.

BSc in Geography, Botany, Ethnology, Soils.
MSc in Forest Ecology.

Bill's 1988 Permaculture. A Designer's Manual resonates with who I am and what I do to such an extent that I never pursued a Permaculture Qualification / badge to prove it.

Provided policy advice as Environmental Scientist for a regional council on biodiversity and soil quality.

Managed and co-authored Visual Soil Quality Assessment 1999 http://www.landcareresearch.co.nz/research/soil/vsa/fieldguide.asp#availability - VSA Volume 3 in particular helps people visually assess and care for soil organic matter a.o.

Published Bush Vitality Assessment - to help people understand fundamental processes of functional ecosystems to better care for the environment they have chosen to live in.

Will send book to PCG folks for koha and postage.

Now living the life, with Claudia in our home-woodland garden, sheltered within an ancient forest valley - the prow of Maui's waka.

I seek catalysts to synergise holistic communities care for resilient bioregions.
