About Kevin Thien
Trained as a professional Nature guide in Finland, Kevin worked for 6 years in Lapland where he often lectured on the fascinating world of lichens, mosses, liverworts and other organisms striving in an extreme environment, hoping that his clients would understand how small variations can dramatically affect such a sensitive ecosystem.
Willing to be part of the change, he studied to become an environmental engineer. During his studies, he researched on drinking water treatment, dry toilets, and the usage of humanures for growing crops.
It is in 2005 when a classmate lends him "the one straw revolution" that his interests would entirely shift towards farming. He naturally ended hearing of permaculture, and it is only in november 2010, being in the southern hemisphere, that he got the chance to enroll in a PDC course.
More than ever determined to find solutions to the problems of our global civilization, he makes the jump to devote his life to permaculture and the improvement of farming. He decides to follow his dream and quit his job to practicing Natural farming.
Kevin currently lives in the country of his wife, western Japan. He envisions to set up in 2 years a Permaculture and Fukuoka's Natural farming demonstration site, where he would conduct researches and also teach PDC courses.
