About Lisa Kelly
I'm a trained visual artist who learnt the growing impulse from my mother's father, a Sri Lankan migrant to Australia in whose gardens I learnt to eat the flowers, savour fruit straight from the trees and the compulsion to propagate.
In 2010 I took an extended art sabbatical to enjoy other pursuits, including deepening my learning and practice of permaculture. I completed an Introduction to Permaculture course with Milkwood Permaculture in 2008 and a Permaculture Design Course with Lea Harrison in The Channon in 2011.
I value the direct models of learning and exchange offered by workshops and WWOOFing and see permaculture as a lens of influence on different ways of being in the world. Living in the resource-rich suburb of Newtown, I engage with permaculture at home, in my workplace and in my neighbourhood. I volunteer at my local food cooperative Alfalfa House, at the Sydney Buddhist Centre and the Green Living Centre.
I'm currently working to support Lea Harrison present a new PDC in Sydney in February 2013 at Vijayaloka Buddhist Retreat Centre -
