The Permaculture Research Institute of Australia

When I started reading about permaculture a few years ago, many things just seemed to fall into place. I realised that here was a movement that held out real hope for the future, where individuals could make a difference. This network is a great source of inspiration, seeing what positive steps so many people are making all over the world.

My background is in ecology as a science: BSc from the University of East Anglia and a masters in Tropical Coastal Management from the Uni of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. This lead to work in coastal management in the Red Sea, both in Egypt and Eritrea. I got somewhat disillusioned with "managing the commons" and with aid work, and for the last twenty years life has taken other directions altogether.

Over the last 2 years I have been making a practical start on a small plot on the north-west coast of Mallorca. I would very much like to take a PDC, either here on the island or elsewhere, and become more involved in permaculture, perhaps in a development context.
