About Laurent Schlup
I was born in Switzerland in 1973 and spent 4 years of my childhood in Madagascar. That experience was to be the inspiration of my life.
Called to Australia since a teenager, I left Switzerland in 1993, and that led me to travel throughout the world since.
Being immersed in so many diverse cultures fulfilled a personal interest in anthropo/ethnology, without the school setting. It also greatly inspired me and led to the creation of numerous artistic projects in the fields of painting, sculpture, craft and music over the years.
4 of my visits back to Switzerland were dedicated to working as a shepherd up in the mountains for periods of 5 and ½ months, managing herds of cows/heffers, calfs, goats and chickens and making goat cheese. Living in a chalet without electricity and cooking on fire for extended periods, fulfilled my longtime desire to live simply in nature, with the elements and animals.
I now live in Australia where I discovered Permaculture in 1999.
I completed my PDC in april 2005 which opened a whole new passion and direction in my life. I then naturally followed and deepened my studies in natural systems and designs. Having always had a love for nature and art, permaculture really answers my need for both, combined.
I am now working as a Permaculture designer, consultant and teacher, under Kangaroots-Permaculture.
I started teaching Permaculture Introductory courses in french in 2008 in Switzerland, as well as courses on particular subjects of Permaculture.
I have also completed numerous property designs, as well as earthwork implementations and consultations for clients. (I have a few projects underway, check for updates over the coming months…)
I am also the author/editor of the book
" Permaculture - Introduction et Guide Pratique" in french that officialy came out on the 18th of october 2012.
By buying the book, readers are actively supporting Kangaroots-permaculture's work. Thank you for your help.
I am a manual person and my passion is working with the earth and designing and implementing ecological projects and visions for the good of all.
