About Loren Taylor Luyendyk

Loren Luyendyk is a Permaculture Designer and Teacher offering services locally and globally. Since 1999 he has studied and applied Permaculture Design, including advanced Broadacre and Keyline Design and Soil Compost Technologies. He also has extensive experience in plant propagation and plant pathology.

Loren is a Certified Arborist and Master Gardener, and has a degree in Biology with emphasis in Botany from UC Santa Barbara. He has studied sustainability and horticulture extensively both in the field and in the classroom, having managed several small farms and private orchards.

Loren was born and raised in Santa Barbara California, and has spent a lot of time traveling the world in search of new waves and new adventures. As a lifetime surfer, he was inspired to create Surfers Without Borders (www.surferswithoutborders.org) to address the issue of ocean pollution through Permaculture and sustainable design.

For over 8 years Loren was invloved in the design and operation of the Orella Ranch (www.orellaranch.com) and the Orella Stewardship Institute (www.orellastewardship.org), where he participates in and hosts sustainable design workshops. Loren also runs a local Permaculture nursery and landscape design business called Santa Barbara Organics (www.sborganics.com).

New Projects include the Global Permaculture Design Group (www.globalpermaculture.com). Global Permaculture is an International consortium of designers who are practiced in the art of Permaculture and Ecological Design.

GPC's Mission is to address Global Issues related to the Environment, Human Culture, and Economics through Permaculture and Ecological Design as outlined in the United Nations Agenda 21
