About peter hartman

I have been actively gardening since 2009. I managed to get a fairly decent harvest from our 1000sq ft garden on some borrowed land. I took the following year off work. During that time I ran across the term permaculture. I purchased Gaia’s Garden. I was introduced to many “alternative” gardening concepts. I also started gardening in the winter. I found limited success but have improved my planting dates since.

I began following Paul Wheaton’s podcast in 2011. I have watched as many videos and read as many books as I can get my hands on. Hopefully there is a PDC in my future.

In the summer of 2012 my wife and I acquired a 3.18 acre property in Nixa Mo. We will be building a ICF home in the winter of 2012-13. We will be adding swales and ponds to the barren field as quickly as possible. We will concentrate on our zone 1 kitchen garden and some zone 2 trees. We will be adding laying hens and possibly St. Croix sheep in the spring of 2013. I hope to supply my family with the majority of our food in the coming years.
