About Kelda Miller
I've been practicing permaculture techniques since high school and really started honing my skills by a 2-year internship at the Bullocks Permaculture Homestead 2002-2004. Fascination about urban sustainability brought me to Seattle and my natural ability to network guided me to lead the web/modern creation of the Seattle Permaculture Guild, until I left the city years later. As people knew me as organizer for the Guild, and liked my 'start from basics/visual/hands-on' approach to PC, I was asked to co-teach more and more classes. At the writing of this I've co-taught a handful of PDCs and lead the team for the annual Tacoma PDC.
I grew up in the suburbs learning zero about sustainability, but knowing its the most important thing I want to learn. I'm passionate about bringing permaculture to people who've always hoped something like this may be possible. I've also helped out after Hurricane Katrina and the Haitian earthquake, and think its a no-brainer to employ more permaculture techniques in disaster-stricken areas.
Presently, I'm converting my yard in Sumner to an urban homestead and keep busy with local design jobs and classes. (this region is just beginning to learn about sustainability). I combine permaculture with sound land-use urban planning and social justice, which leads to many adventures.
