About Mari Korhonen
In 2009 at the final inch of my studies I was fortunate to come across to Geoff and Nadia Lawton and study and train with them at Permaculture Research Institute of Australia as part of the practical training of my university degree, BSc in Environmental Engineering. This combined with experience in farm forestry, tree planting, biological landscape restoration and erosion repair around NSW transformed my world view and offered an entirely new approach to practical sustainability.
Since then I have focused my professional aspirations on learning about permaculture design and regenerative land management strategies by working and wwoofing on farms in both in the cold climate which to me still represents home, as well as in many arid climate areas.
Throughout that time I've been writing a permaculture blog in Finnish to provide reading material to people in my mother tongue and become engaged in some permaculture teaching. Together with a growing network of other permies we're organising events and giving introductory workshops and courses to introduce permaculture in Finland.
I'm particularily interested in cold climate permaculture strategies and biological broad acre landscape restoration while developing practical skills to put them in practice!

An easy trick for saving your strawberries from birds!
Milk from the neighbor
We got 10 liters of fresh goat milk from next door and turned it into some yummy cheeses!
Dry toilet conference 2012 Finland: call for abstracts
Does your permaculture project have a story to tell about succesful dry toilet and humanure management? The Dry Toilet 2012 Conference in Finland wants to hear from you!
Autumn resources - hauling vs hoarding
People are busy hauling the leaves, branches and other nutrients out of sight - I'm hauling them back in.
Strengthening the northern dimension
Building foundations for cold climate permaculture: It was great to be a part of a PDC course held as far north as Finland!
My beloved weeds
I've been exploring the world of edible weeds, and so found a new layer of bounty in the garden!
Permaculture Designers Blitz
I just participated a trial of a new way for more or less fresh PDC graduates to get some hands on experience in PC design with the support of professional consultants!
A rocket stove workshop
Yesterday we got together to learn how to build rocket stoves!
