About Margaret Kwok
I have lived at Tui Community since the year 2000 Tui community is a well known intentional community in a beautiful rural costal spot in the South Island of NZ. Since completing my PDC with Robyn Clayfield and others in 1999, I have been lucky enough to have worked on a variety of permaculture and community projects in NZ, including waste minimization, worm farming, community gardens and creative education. I have also been highly involved in our main garden at Tui Community.
I am also interested in dance and deep ecology and have trained and worked in Rudolf Steiner Education. I gained my Aotearoa NZ Diploma in Permaculture in 2009. My partner Sam is a qualified carpenter, and has been lucky enough to work with some great NZ eco and earth builders. We have had various earth building adventures ourselves!
More recently I have been part of organising a 3 week PDC that Earthcare Education Aotearoa runs at Tui's events and education centre the "Treefield". I am currently involved in developing permaculture in Otago Polytechnic's tertiary courses in Sustainable Practice, with the aim to offer a learning pathway in permaculture for NZ permie's. ( and international students too!).
I currently in Graduate Study at Otago Polytechnic in Sustainable Practice. My family and I are developing our house and zone as a permaculture nest at Tui. I am also involved in redesigning and constructing a new main garden for Tui as the original large garden was sadly destroyed in major flooding December 2011.
Its all very exciting and I feel lucky to be working with a variety of awesome folk in the permaculture community around Aotearoa NZ.
