The Permaculture Research Institute of Australia

Born and brought up in Ireland and based in South Africa for the past twenty years. Got involved in permaculture through community living in rural valley in the mountains. Built own home from local materials and created permi gardens around. Co-facilitated many PDCs from Rustlers Valley. Worked for Food & Trees for Africa as permaculture consultant and educator trainer. I am also an artist and create permaculture resources, games and booklets. My partner and i currently co-exist with 6 horses, 5 dogs, 11 chickens, rabbits and fish as well as three kids...Currently working with SEED (Schools Environmental Educational Development)managing their Outdoor Classroom Programme in three schools in KwaZulu Natal and also for MMAEP (Midland Meander Assoc. Education Programme) as a food garden facilitator for two schools. Mentoring an amazing team of dynamic zulu women and we are working towards the Yizwa Permaculture Project to transform a wasteland in a township into a small permi training centre and gardens for the local community to access heirloom seeds, medicinal plants and information. I am loving the passion and transformative power that permaculture can inspire in places that are truly harsh emotionally and physically and what utter magic can be created from diversity :-)
