About Bruce Zell

As a 5th generation member of a farming family and food producers in the Far West of New South Wales and the Cairns region of Australia Bruce says he has had a fortunate life.

Bruce discovered Permaculture in 1976 in Cooktown North Queensland where he met Bill Mollison, he says life has never been the same since.

Having lived the tropics for over 40 years Bruce has taken time to understand the climate, plants, soils and what it takes to be able to survive in this contrasting part of Australia as a outdoors man, Permaculturist and family man.

He began his experiences with natural disasters with the 1955 flood in the Central West NSW that reached historic levels. Numerous other disasters bushfires, flash floods and cyclones have been a set up for him to experience the mother of them all cyclone Yasi..
